Kellogg’s Interview

Hi everyone!Kellogg logo

Yesterday I had my interview with a Kellogg alumnus. My interviewer graduated in 2010, and is working in The Boston Consulting Group. We met at the AC Hotel Cuzco, in Madrid.

I arrived a little bit early and my interviewer got there on time. While I was waiting, I could hear that most of the people sitting in the hotel’s bar where speaking in English, but I was the only one who was about to have an interview :D.

As I mentioned in my last post, I met my interviewer in September at a Kellogg student-hosted event. He remembered me, and we started talking about ourselves and our jobs. After five minutes or so, we switched to English and we started the interview.

Overall, my interviewer was interested on learning things about me, and about my past educational and professional decisions. The interview lasted around an hour, and I was asked the following questions:

  • Why did you chose your undergraduate degree?
  • Why did you chose to work in company ‘X’?
  • What do you like about company ‘X’ and what don’t you like?
  • Why do you want to do an MBA?
  • What would you do if you are not accepted to any MBA?
  • Why Kellogg?
  • How would you spend your spare time at Evanston?
  • Significant teamwork experience.
  • If someone took credit for your own work, what would you do?
  • What has been your biggest accomplishment?

Afterwards, we switched back to Spanish and I asked him some questions about his past experience, his reasons for going to Kellogg, and about his current job. He was very sincere, something that I really value.

After an hour and a half, he told me that he had enough information and that he would send his report in less than a week. He asked me to keep him updated and we said goodbye.

My impression about the interview is good, although I left with the feeling that I could have sold myself better. I also wasn’t prepared for two of the questions he asked me, and I don’t know whether he was satisfied with my answers.

Time keeps passing by, and the decision day gets closer. Two months to find out whether I will be admitted!
